Hotel Background

Charlton Resorts, consisting of two hotels, Charltons Banff and Delta Banff Royal Canadian Lodge, is a company that has set the standard for hospitality in the Banff National Park for over 50 years. As a group of hospitality professionals we pride ourselves in providing first class accommodation and the ultimate in guest experience.

The Charlton's Banff is comprised of 57 unique and spacious guest rooms and suites, with full breakfast facilities where guests are able to enjoy daily complimentary breakfast.

The Delta Banff Royal Canadian Lodge has 99 guest rooms including 16 suites. We offer an intimate setting with meeting space for up to 100 guests. The Evergreen Restaurant is open from 6:30 am-10:00 pm, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as providing in room dining.

Scope & General Purpose

To ensure that Charlton Resorts recruitment strategy is best in class, timely and cost effective. To assist in hiring the right people in the right positions and to ensure successful retention strategies to maintain employee and employer satisfaction. This person will be a leader within our Hotels, facilitating training to deliver exceptional service to all guests and employees alike, as well as assisting the Department Heads with Departmental Training.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update job postings on various applications such as; HCareers, Job Bank, Marriott
  • Talent Point, Job Resource Center, Local Papers, Bunac, S.W.A.P. Kijiji, Indeed.
  • Manage results of all job postings and respond to e-mails/in-person.
  • Pre-qualify candidates for all departments. (pre-screening & reference checks)
  • Facilitate the hiring process by ensuring all documentation in completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate files.
  • Manage the Staff Accommodation process by conducting check-ins, check-outs, inspections, reporting and following up on maintenance and/or cleanliness issues.
  • Plan and facilitate the new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude towards Charlton Resorts organizational objectives and philosophy.
  • Facilitate Delta‚Äôs Professional Training; Service Essentials and Connex training.
  • Assist with identification of training needs, selection, development and delivery.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs that will drive increased employee satisfaction and commitment levels.
  • Actively chair on the Health & Safety Committee.
  • Plan quarterly staff events, birthdays, long stay awards, employee recognition programs for superior work performance and contributions.
  • Keep up to date on current events and programs in the Bow Valley and communicate to team members.
  • Prepare monthly Employee Newsletter.
  • Assist the General Manager & Operations Manager with administration tasks as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Support Roles:

  • Work with Department Heads to develop strong retention plans
  • Assist with complaint handling in the absence of other managers
  • Act as impartial liaison between staff and management.

Preferred Knowledge/ Qualifications

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to enhance both the presentation and service standards throughout the operation.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Successful track record with a minimum 2 years Human Resources training in a similar capacity.
  • Must always maintain a professional appearance.
  • Position involves preparing documents and presentations. Candidate must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License.

Visa Requirements:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
