The Banff Park Lodge has two sister properties; the Bow View Lodge and the Homestead Inn.

We are currently seeking one full-time, permanent Assistant Manager for Crave Mountain Grill. The work schedule for this position includes day shifts, evening shifts, weekends and holidays . Wage is based on experience, for 40 hours per week.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service to provide memorable dining experiences, exceeding our guest’s expectations
  • To have full knowledge of all food and beverage menus in Crave Mountain Grill and all other special promotions in the hotel
  • Serve, clear and re-set tables in a timely manner and assist with in room dining orders
  • In absence of the Manager, lead and supervise the Crave Mountain Grill team in all aspects of the department and ensure service standards are followed
  • Operate the Crave Mountain Grill / In Room Dining service in an efficient and profitable manner
  • Assist with the recruitment, retention and training of Crave Mountain Grill colleagues
  • Complete cash out procedures and reports as specified and audit cashier floats periodically
  • Document, maintain, communicate, and act upon all cash variances
  • Maintain a clean and well stocked environment for our guests
  • Handle guest concerns and react quickly and professionally
  • In the absence of the Manager, execute departmental payroll administration, gratuity distribution and scheduling.
  • Ensure that all equipment, fixtures, and furniture of the department are kept in the best repair possible and are used in a safe and proper manner
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of, and critically asses the restaurant policies, procedures and service standards
  • Be familiar with and train staff on emergency, safety and security procedures
  • Ensure effective working relationships and clear communication with all colleagues and leaders in the restaurant and other departments
  • Utilize the environmental mission statement as a guideline for all operations; offering ideas to improve waste reduction, water reduction, energy consumption, and composting
  • Follows hotel's telephone etiquette standards
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Minimum of 2 years previous Food and Beverage experience required
  • Working knowledge of Point of Sale System required
  • A dynamic leader with strong organizational skills and passion for Food & Beverage
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
  • Displays high initiative and requires minimal supervision and direction
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communications and problem solving skills
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and a definite team player
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills required
  • Food Safe, Pro Serve and First Aid Certification, Train the Trainer is an asset
  • Sommelier designation an asset
  • Experience with Adobe and Micros an asset
